Japan Is Likely To Participate In Construction Of Two Power Stations In Tajikistan

Japan is likely to participate in the accomplishment of the construction of the Rogun and Sangudin hydroelectric power stations in Tajikistan, special envoy of the Japanese Prime Minister Muneo Suzuki said after the meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rakhmonov on Wednesday. The Japanese side will send its experts to Tajikistan in order to evaluate the condition of these power stations with a view to their possible reconstruction and exploitation, Suzuki said. In the experts' estimation, the restoration and commissioning of the Rogun hydroelectric power station (the valley of the river Vakhsh, 106 kilometres to the south of Dushanbe) will require at least 800 million US dollars.
