Ukraine, Brazil Ink Package Of Cooperation Agreements

Within the framework of a state visit to Kiev by Brazil's President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, a package of cooperation agreements has been signed. In the presence of the presidents of Ukraine and Brazil, an intergovernmental agreement on the protection of technologies related to rocket launches from the Alcantara space center was concluded. It intends the establishment of a Ukrainian-Brazilian joint venture for commercial space services under the project of use of the Ukrainian carrier rocket Tsiklon-4 from the Brazilian launch center Alcantara. The Ukrainian and Brazilian space agencies signed a memorandum on cooperation in the use of Ukrainian carrier rockets from Alcantara. The sides signed an intergovernmental protocol on cooperation in the field of oil and gas production. The protocol will determine principles for cooperation in joint prospecting and subsequent production of oil and gas on the shelf of the Black and Azov seas with the technology of the Brazilian state oil and gas company Petrobraz. Ukraine and Brazil also signed the declaration on the deepening of friendship and cooperation, convention on avoidance of double taxation, agreement on cooperation in machine-building for the energy sector.
