The president of Azerbaijan arrives in Moscow

President Geidar Aliyev of Azerbaijan arrives in Moscow on a state visit. He will conduct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Government Mikhail Kasyanov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Ivanov and Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov.

It is expected that they will discuss the issues concerning the strengthening of international security and stability, economic cooperation between the two countries, including in the fuel and energy complex, and also perspectives of military-technological cooperation. The Presidents will also discuss the Karabakh settlement and the problems of defining the status of the Caspian Sea.

It is planned to sign a joint statement by the two Presidents, an agreement on the status of the Russian radar in Azerbaijan, a treaty on a long-term economic cooperation between the countries up to 2010 and a package of inter-governmental agreements.

The visit will last till January 26.
