The press of Qatar called successful the visit of Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Russia and his talks with Russian top officials. Thus, the Qatar newspaper Ash-Sharq underscores that Russia is one of the important states, which Qatar strives to develop cooperation with. Another newspaper Ar-Rayah writes that the visit gave a new impetus to Doha-Moscow relations in trade, economic and investment spheres. A number of agreements signed in the course of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani's stay in Russia "will bear fruit expanding the horizons of bilateral cooperation," the newspaper notes. It hopes for "fruitful resonance and consequences" of the visit for a whole range of Russian-Arab relations having "deep historic roots and based on principles of mutual respect and observance of mutual interests."
