A timeframe for inking a fundamental constitutional act of the Russia-Belarus Union can be set in February 2002. Before departure from Moscow on Wednesday Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko gave this answer to a RIA Novosti question. To Lukashenko, at its regular session in February the Higher State Council will hear a report on what stage of undersigning this document our countries are now at. Preparations for signing the constitutional act must be sped up, believes the Belarussian president. Alexander Lukashenko said that talk on a timeframe for parliamentary elections of the Russia-Belarus Union is only possible after concrete goals and functions of the supranational organs of power of the Russia-Belarus Union have been outlined. "We suppose also this work can be completed this year", he said.
