Humanitarian Assistance To Afghanistan Goes Through Tajik Border

Russian border guards let 36 motor transport columns consisting of 1,135 cars with humanitarian assistance from the UN World Food Programme pass from Tajikistan to Afghanistan via the Ishkashim post on the Tajik-Afghan border beginning in November 14. The press centre of the Russian frontier service administration in Tajikistan reported that Russian emergencies ministry representatives in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan helped deliver 2,785 tons of flour and 2,890 tons of grain to the city of Faizabad in north-eastern Afghanistan. The main headquarters of the Tajik emergencies ministry reported that more than 10,000 tons of humanitarian goods for Afghanistan were being stored at the ministry's warehouses now. Several days ago the ministry received a humanitarian cargo from Russia: 32 KAMAZ cars, two command vehicles, 9 petrol tankers which will be used for delivering humanitarian aid to the population of northern Afghanistan.
