Head of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission /UNMOVIC/ Hans Blix and International Atomic Energy Agency /IAEA/ Director General Mohamed El-Baradei intend to submit an interim report on the outcome of international inspections in Iraq to the UN Security Council on Thursday.
The IAEA Secretariat in Vienna told RIA Novosti that the report would include viewpoints of heads of both bodies on the declaration about its armament and programs submitted by Baghdad in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 1441.
According to data provided by the IAEA Secretariat and the UN diplomatic circles, the routine report by UNMOVIC and the IAEA will criticize the Iraqi authorities "avoiding to cooperate with the international inspectors." In particular, the report points out that the declaration does not contain any information about Iraqi chemical and biological weapons and about the location of 6,000 bombs with toxic agents.
Meanwhile, Mohamed El-Baradei and Hans Blix believe that the international inspectors spent too little time in Iraq to arrive at specific and comprehensive conclusions whether Iraq possesses mass destruction weapons or not. According to them, the report that is to be submitted on January 27 will include this issue as well.
