Kyrgyz President becomes laureate of Russian Peter the Great Prize

Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev is among laureates of the Russian Peter the Great Prize.

The Kyrgyz President's press office told RIA Novosti on Friday that Askar Akayev would be awarded with a bronze bust of Peter the Great, an honorary diploma and a silver medal.

The Kyrgyz leader is awarded with the prize for his personal contribution to cultural, political, social and economic cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Kyrgyz President stressed.

International Peter the Great Prize was established by Best Managers of the New Era, a Russian public fund, in 2000.

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Klaus Schwab (World Economic Forum in Davos), a Russian politician Yevgeni Primakov, Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher and many others had been awarded with the prize.
