Iran-Germany: Foreign Ministers debate how to get Saddam down? Iranian Ministry denies

Kamal Kharazi and Joschka Fischer, respective Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Iran and Germany, had a telephone conference Monday, December 30. They were discussing plans to overthrow Iraqi leader Saddam Hussain, allege certain Iranian-based periodicals.

An informed officer of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service resolutely denies those press reports. As things really were, the two ministers were discussing the latest regional reforms and changes, the Iraqi crisis, and bilateral contacts. Whatever military plans against Iraq were out of the agenda.
