Russia transferred to Georgia two people accused of an attempt on Eduard Shevardnadze in 1998.

On Saturday Soso Toriya and Vepkhiya Durglishvili were delivered to Tbilisi and handed over to the Georgian side.

"Georgia is thankful to the Russian Federal Security Service for detention of the accused and their delivery to Tbilisi on board a Russian aircraft," Georgian Deputy State Security Minister Irakly Kotetishvili stated to journalists." According to him, Georgian and Russian special services are "perfectly cooperating." Kotetishvili stated that cooperation between the two countries in the struggle against terrorism would be developed.

The deputy head of the Georgian State Security ministry also reported that the case of attempt on the Georgian President in 1998 was almost resolved and there was information about those involved in that crime.
