Russia urges N Korea to cooperate with IAEA

Russia has urged N Korea to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency in order to pacify the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Russia's deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov and North Korean Ambassador to Moscow Pak Ui Chun met on Thursday on the latter's request to discuss "certain issues dealing with bilateral relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula," reported a source in the Russian foreign ministry.

The sides expressed their apprehension about the aggravating situation around the People's Democratic Republic of Korea and stressed the importance of solving all existing problems by means of negotiations.

The Russian side also emphasized that is was necessary to carry on cooperation between North Korea and the IAEA, and the dialogue between the USA and North Korea as a way to pacify the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
