Estonia and Russia's North-West to Cooperate in Law Enforcement Sphere in 2003

Head of the department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the North-West Federal District General Boris Uyemlyanin arrives in Estonia today on a five-day visit intended to increase cooperation between the Estonian police force and the department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the North-West Federal District in the struggle against terrorism and the smuggling of drugs and weapons.

As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr Uyemlyanin will meet Estonian Minister of Internal Affairs Ain Seppik and Director of the Police Board Harry Tuul as well as Director of the Central Criminal Police Force Andres Anvelt. Furthermore, Mr Uyemlyanin will hold talks with Estonian legal experts and will visit the Estonian criminalistics centre.

It is expected that Mr Uyemlyanin and Mr Tuul will sign a protocol of cooperation between the police of the North-West District of Russia and the Estonian police for 2003.
