Russian border guards discover cache with weapons at Tajik-Afghan border

Russian border guards have detained a trespasser and discovered a cache with weapons at the Tajik-Afghan border.

The press service of the Russian border troops in Tajikistan said that the signalling system had snapped into action at the flat sector of the Moscow border detachment last night. The border guards traced footsteps going from Tajikistan to Afghanistan. Later they detained the trespasser, presumably an Afghan. An investigation is being carried now.

A cache was discovered with two AK-47 sub-machine guns and one magazine with shells at the sector of the Khorogsky border detachment.

Earlier, at the sector of the Pyandzhsky border detachment a representative meeting was held where Lieutenant-Colonel Andrei Kapustin, the Deputy Head of the Russian detachment, and Lieutenant General Haji Walimamed, the representative of the border guard service of the province of Namanga, discussed ways of preventing incidents at the border.
