Moscow Mayor visits Pyongyang

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov will travel today to the North Korean capital Pyongyang on a two-day visit. According to Mr. Luzhkov, he is going to discuss with the North Korean leadership the perspectives of economic and trade cooperation. In particular, the sides will touch upon the possibility of Russian car and home electronics sales to North Korea.

"North Korea is in need of those goods and wants to by them," said the Mayor of Moscow. He emphasized the fact that his visit bears no political significance." The Moscow Mayor is scheduled to meet with DPRK Premier Hong Song Nam, the economic bloc ministers, and also with Pyongyang Mayor Ryang Man Kil. It's possible that he might be accepted by DPRK leader Kim Jong Il, although this possibility is still being discussed between the two sides.
