Baghdad condemns white house policy towards Iranians in US

Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Hamid Reza Assefi condemned the United States, namely the US Migration Department, for having arrested Iranian citizens residing in the United States.

The press service for the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported on Friday that, according to Assefi, the new US migration legislation was derogative to Iranian citizens and Muslims in general.

"The White House permits tough and strict measures towards Iran both in the US foreign and domestic policy," Assefi noted. According to him, such US actions contradict the international law principles and violate human rights.

Hundreds of Iranians have been arrested in southern California under the new legislation, which addresses the migration issue in the United States.

Data suggest that about 1,000 Iranians are residing in California.
