Uzbek President and US Assistant Secretary of State discussed economic cooperation during a meeting in Tashkent

Uzbek President Islam Karimov and the US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Alan Larson discussed the issues concerning economic reforms in Uzbekistan and the perspectives of its cooperation with the United States during a meeting in Tashkent, reported sources in president's administration.

After the meeting, Mr. Larson told journalists that the sides exchanged their opinions on a wide range of topics, in particular - the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation. The United States is interested in cooperation with Uzbekistan in various areas because Uzbekistan is one of the leading countries in Central Asia in terms of its potential, added the US Assistant Secretary of State.
