Russian-Uruguayan relations 145 years old

Russian and Uruguayan Foreign Ministers Igor Ivanov and Didier Opertii Badan on Tuesday exchanged congratulatory telegrams on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of the establishing of official relations between the two countries, said the Russian Foreign Ministry's press and information department.

In his message, the Russian diplomatic chief described the present level of Russian-Uruguayan political relations as one of the highest in all history of ties between the two countries. This, according to Ivanov, is largely determined by the shared views of Moscow and Montevideo on most world issues.

In the Russian minister's opinion, "a constructive political dialogue between the two countries is a good basis for cooperation in other fields". Ivanov expressed confidence that "the experience accumulated over 145 years of Russian-Uruguayan relations, mutual respect and feelings of friendship will give a fresh impulse to bilateral relations".
