Uzbek Parliament Holds 10th Session

The tenth session of the Uzbek parliament is going to be held on 12-13 December. According to sources, the president will not only innaugarate the session, he will also attend an international media conference. This conference is to be attended by more that 200 politicians and foreign diplomats.

The Uzbek media reported today that the the ambassador of Azerbaijan, Aidyn Alibekovich, has been awared with Uzbekistan’s Dostlik order.

The tenth session of the Uzbek Parliament (Oliy Majlis) will start on the 12th of December in the capital city Tashkent. Sources have reported that the parliament will consider sixteen issues, including the budget for 2003, principles and guarantees of freedom of information, introducing amendments and supplements to some legislative acts, confirmation of decrees of the president, and the human rights question.

Today, the Uzbek media informed that President Islam Karimov signed a decree on December 9 awarding the Dostlik order to the Azerbaijan ambassador, Aidyn Azimbekov. Azimbekov is the second person to receive this prestigious award, after the Japanese ambassador. It should be mentioned here that this Uzbek award is been given to people who help develop friendly relations and cooperation
