Belgrade Sees Russian PM's Visit to Serbia as 'Epochal' Event

The Serbian government is viewing Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov's visit to Belgrade as an 'epochal' event. A Rosbalt correspondent was informed of this by the press office of the Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.

The Russian delegation, led by Mr Kasyanov, is expected to arrive in Belgrade on January 28, 2003. Belgrade has already prepared a number of joint projects which will include reduced import-export tariffs and the development of military cooperation between the two states.

Mr Djindjic said at a press conference in Belgrade that Russia had always been Serbia's greatest ally and partner and the arrival of Mr Kasyanov will symbolize a new stage in the development of 'close mutual relations.'
