Chairman of Russia's Customs Committee to Discuss Green Corridor with Finnish, Swedish Colleagues

Mikhail Vanin, Chairman of Russia's State Customs Committee, is officially visiting Geteborg, Sweden. According to the press service of the State Customs Committee, Mr. Vanin is going to have talks with Kjell Jansson and Tapio Erling, Swedish and Finnish Directors General of Chief Customs Agencies. Their objective in the talks is discussing Russia's cooperation, possibly trilateral in the future, with the two countries as concerns customs activities.

One of the issues to be discussed is the creation of a 'green corridor', that is a technological scheme to allow speedy customs processing with the use of electronics. The visit is expected to result in the signing of a trilateral memorandum of mutual understanding as concerns the project, reflecting the principal points of future cooperation. Further on, an expert group is supposed to be set up for perfecting the technological side of the matter and, possibly, creating the necessary software.

Another issue to be discussed is cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the three countries. Mr. Vanin's visit will continue till December 4.
