Moscow resolutely censures act of terrorism in Kenya

Moscow "resolutely censures" the acts of terrorism committed in Kenya, says a statement by Alexander Yakovenko, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, which RIA Novosti received today.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its "sincere condolences to the relatives of the victims of the act of terrorism and also wishes early recuperation to the wounded."

At the same time, the document points out that "the tragic events in Kenya again confirm that the criminal activity of the trans-national terrorist alliance poses a threat to the entire international community. Many countries, including Russia, become targets of its schemes. Moscow expresses the opinion that this "insistently demands broad consolidation of efforts to combat this global challenge."

Being an active member of the anti-terrorist coalition, Russia will in future, too, do its utmost to counteract international terrorism, says the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman in his statement.

On Thursday an explosion went off in a hotel in a health resort near the town of Mombasa, where Israelis usually stay. According to incoming reports, among the 12 people killed were Kenyan and Israeli citizens. It was also reported practically simultaneously that an Israeli passenger airliner which left Mombasa had been shot at from a portable missile system. Luckily, the liner managed to get to Israel safely.
