This year's Russia-China turnover may reach $12 billion

This year the turnover between Russia and China may reach a $12 billion record high, Director of the Foreign Ministry's First Asian Department Yevgeny Afanasyev reported.

According to him, at present a number of projects are under discussion. If they are successfully carried out, the two countries will be able "not only to double or treble their turnover, but further increase it." In particular, these projects include cooperation in the energy sector.

The Russian official estimates that Russian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation is undergoing a "qualitative break" and is "catching up" on the high level existing in the political dialogue between the two countries.
