Nato summit oficially opened in Prague Congress center

The Prague Congress-center has hosted the official opening of the NATO summit.

The summit was opened by a meeting of the North-Atlantic Council of the heads of states and governments of all 19 member-states in the Conference-center's main conference hall. The announcement about NATO expansion will be made after the speeches of NATO Secretary General George Robertson and Czech President Vaclav Havel.

Besides admission of new members, on the first working day the alliance intends discussing problems of the NATO transformation, its new tasks and roles.

Operation of rapid reaction forces and the new structure of controlling North-Atlantic alliance's armed forces are also on the agenda of the meeting.
