CIS customs authorities sign cooperation agreement

At the 36th meeting of the heads of the CIS countries' customs authoritiesthat was held in Moscow today, specific steps aimed at expandingcooperation and collaboration of customs services were determined. Theparticipants of the meeting considered an array of measures aimed atsimplifying customs control and formalities of declaring products that aretransported across the borders of the Commonwealth of the IndependentStates. The officials attending the meeting also considered the necessityof studying national laws regulating the activities in areas with specialeconomic conditions. The heads of customs authorities also discussed theproposal made by the Russian State Customs Committee about implementingjoint operations aimed at preventing the illegal activities of the peoplesearched for in the state members of the CIS. At the end of the meeting, aprotocol of cooperation in providing security of the CIS customsauthorities was signed..
