President of Germany to Visit Leading Russian-German Joint Venture in Novgorod the Great

The programme of Johannes Rau, President of Germany, in the city of Novgorod the Great includes a visit to Novtrak one of the largest local Russian-German joint ventures. According to the press service of the regional administration, Mr. Rau intends to visit the company on September 5, his second day in the city.

There are 20 Russian-German joint ventures in the Novgorod Region. Besides the Novtrak, the largest among them are NBI-Transport Servise GmBH, Pfleiderer-Chudovo, Amcor Rentsch Novgorod, NovGARO, and Benteler Autotechnika Novgorod. The Novtrak company owned by the SOMMER international group makes universal high capacity automobile semi-trailers and trailers, mostly awning all-metal, containers, and refrigerators. In 2001, the company's sales amounted to about USD 3.7 million, USD 2.5 million over the first 6 months of 2002.
