Bloomberg: half of the G20 countries doesn't support the US intention to isolate Russia

Bloomberg: Russia caused the split between the G20 countries

Despite the unanimous desire of the G7 countries to isolate Russia, almost half of the G20 members refuse to pursue such a goal, writes Bloomberg.

According to the media, high-ranking officials from the richest countries of the G20 tried to convince other states of the need for such measures, but they did not want to follow this narrative.

In particular, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken encountered such an "uncomfortable reality" during his long tour of Southeast Asia and Africa. The current state of affairs seriously complicates the implementation of global initiatives such as limiting the price of Russian oil, the publication emphasizes.

According to the author of the material, there are several reasons for such restraint of the G20 countries. Among them are historical ties with Moscow, countries' fears for their economies, and mistrust of former colonial powers.
