China names Russia's best airborne weapon

The Sukhoi Su-35 fighter armed with R-37M air-to-air missiles is Russia's best airborne weapon, Chinese publication Sina wrote.

The Russian Su-35 conducted launch tests of the R-37M missile. 

MiG-31 fighter-interceptors were the first to be armed with the R-37M missile. The range of the ammo is more than 200 kilometers. The R-37M is larger than the R-27 and R-77 missiles that Russian fighters also carry. The warhead of the R-37M weighs 60 kilograms.

"Currently, the missile that has been supplied to the US Army and has the most powerful performance and longest range is the AIM-120C air-to-air missile. However, its range is only 100 kilometers, so the United States lags behind Russia here," the Chinese publication said.

In May, Military Watch put the R-37M missile on the list of most dangerous air combat munitions. This missile was called the fastest air-to-air munition.

In January, Military Watch called the Sukhoi Su-35 fighter aircraft the most combat-ready Russian fighter. The aircraft ai armed with R-37M missiles, which make it possible to destroy enemy targets at a distance of up to 400 kilometers.
