The American special aircraft Boeing C-40C with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi, which took off from Malaysia on Tuesday, landed in the administrative capital of Taiwan, Taipei, follows from Flightradar aviation service data.

The plane, instead of a direct route to the island, took off from the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, flew through Indonesian airspace, and then east of the Philippines and landed in Taiwan from the Pacific Ocean. Thus, he bypassed the space above the South China Sea, where two Chinese aircraft carriers, Shandong and Liaoning, are performing tasks at once.

Meanwhile, southeast of Taiwan is a carrier strike group led by the USS Ronald Reagan, the USS nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. It includes the missile cruiser USS Antietam and the destroyer USS Higgins. The aircraft-carrying amphibious assault ships America and Tripoli also ply to the north of the island.

Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Pelosi went on an official trip to Asian countries - Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan, her office said in an official statement. It was indicated that Pelosi is leading an American delegation whose purpose of the trip is to negotiate trade, security, climate change and the COVID-19 epidemic.

The possibility of her visit to Taiwan, which she previously announced, was not officially indicated. Meanwhile, the Taiwanese authorities have confirmed that she will arrive on the island. Pelosi and members of the delegation will stay at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taiwan's administrative capital, Taipei. A meeting with the island authorities is scheduled for Wednesday at 08:50 local time.
