The Americans are supplying Kyiv with HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems to study the operation of Russian air defense systems, and not to strengthen the Ukrainian army. This was stated by military expert Alexei Leonkov.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, he noted that the HIMARS are designed for counter-battery combat, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine use them to strike civilian targets where Russian air defense systems are deployed.
"When HIMARS are operating, and we intercept missiles with our air defense systems, American reconnaissance satellites study their principles of operation," the expert said.
According to Leonkov, this is invaluable information for the US Department of Defense. He suggested that the study of Russian air defense systems is the true goal of "help" to Kyiv from Washington, for which the Pentagon sacrifices its MLRS, as well as the civilian population.
The specialist added that the States are interested in studying the Russian Tor and Buk complexes.
