Anti-Russian sanctions would be lifted if Moscow and Kyiv find a fair deal – Scholz

Scholz names the conditions for lifting anti-Russian sanctions

Without a fair deal with Kyiv, sanctions against Moscow will remain in place. Such a condition for lifting restrictions from Russia was announces by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the final press conference at the end of the G7 summit.

“Without a fair deal with Ukraine, sanctions will also continue to be in place,” Scholz said, recalling the restrictions imposed in connection with the situation with Crimea.

Earlier, the German leader said that sanctions against Russia would be lifted only after the conclusion of a just peace with Ukraine. He also said that Western countries are in solidarity in their intention not to allow Russia to win the conflict with Ukraine and increase economic pressure on it.
