USA sanctions Russian defence officials and TV presenter

The United States imposed sanctions against 29 Russian citizens, including former Minister of Defense, head of Rostec aviation cluster Anatoly Serdyukov and TV presenter Tina Kandelaki, who currently serves as deputy director general of Gazprom Media holding.

According to the US Justice Ministry, the sanctions also affected 70 organizations associated with the Russian defense industry, including Rostec.

Tina Kandelaki responded to her inclusion on the sanctions list.

"The world has changed and we will never be part of the old world. We were not welcome there before and we are not welcome there now either. Those who are trying to sit between two chairs, or vice versa, who have taken that foreign chair — they have my sympathies," she wrote on Telegram channel.

Vasily Brovko, Director for Special Assignments of the Rostec State Corporation, was also included on the list.

In addition to Serdyukov, his children (son Sergei and daughter Natalya), were put on the sanctions list too. Serdyukov's former subordinate Evgenia Vasilyeva was sanctioned as well.

As for legal entities, the new sanctions list includes:

  • KAMAZ

  • Research Institute of Computer Engineering;
  • Research and Production Enterprise Svyaz;
  • Special Design Bureau for Computer Engineering;
