Poland to demand compensation from Gazprom for stopping gas supplies

Wirtualna Polska: Warsaw to shift responsibility to Gazprom for stopping gas supplies

The Polish leadership intends to hold Russia accountable for cutting off gas supplies before the contract expires. This was stated by the Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin, writes the newspaper Wirtualna Polska.

According to him, the authorities have agreed with the Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) and will soon bill Gazprom. During the Senate conference "The Path to Energy Independence in Poland and the Region," the official stressed that Warsaw cannot but respond unilaterally to the termination of the Yamal contract.

In this regard, the Polish side will demand compensation for the losses incurred due to the actions of the Russian supplier. Sasin recalled that Warsaw did not want to renew the contract, but by the end of the year the gas had to go to the republic.

At the same time, the official assured that the country is fully provided with gas thanks to the measures taken in advance. It has completely filled its own storage facilities, has a terminal for receiving batches of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and its own production.
