Officials in the White House are increasingly doubtful that Ukraine will be able to return the territories lost after the start of the Russian special operation, CNN reported, citing officials in the United States.
Thus, advisers to US President Joe Biden are internally discussing whether there is a need for Ukraine to recognize territorial concessions in order to end the conflict as soon as possible. However, according to CNN, Washington does not plan to put pressure on Kyiv in this matter.
One congressional staffer believes that shrinking Ukraine's territory is inevitable, and that the ability to regain lost areas "depends in large part, if not entirely, on how much aid" Washington provides to Kyiv.
The United States does not recognize the entry of Ukrainian territories into Russia. Such a development will seriously complicate prospects for a diplomatic settlement
