Head of the Georgian government Irakli Garibashvili said that the leader of the "Servant of the People" party David Arakhamia asked Western officials not to grant Tbilisi the status of Candida in the European Union. To do this, the Ukrainian politician personally visited Europe and the States, the Prime Minister stressed.
"The representative of the Ukrainian government, Mr. Arakhamia, practically delivered an ultimatum to Europe: if Georgia gets the status of a candidate, Kyiv will be very upset," Garibashvili said during a speech in parliament.
However, the official did not disclose the source of the information. The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine's position was approved by the followers of ex-leader of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili. As an example, Garibashvili cited Salome Samadashvili, former ambassador to the European Union.
Earlier, Bloomberg wrote that Ukraine and Moldova will become candidates for the EU on June 23-24. At this time, the union summit will be held, American journalists recalled.
