The international song contest "Eurovision" will not be held in Ukraine due to the current situation in the country, the option of the UK is being considered, the organizers said.
"After winning the Eurovision Song Contest in May, the EBU (European Broadcasting Union - IF) explored options for hosting next year's contest with a Ukrainian public broadcaster. After an objective analysis, the reference group concluded with deep regret that, given the current circumstances, security guarantees, necessary for the broadcaster to conduct, organize the song contest in accordance with the rules cannot be met," the EBU statement says.
The organizers reminded that by tradition the right to host the competition next year is given to the country that won the competition.
According to the statement, the EBU will begin talks with this year's runners-up Britain about the possible hosting of the 2023 contest there.
