Ukraine cancels special duties on import of certain Russian goods, cars included

The Ukrainian government lifted special duties on import of a number of Russian goods, cars included, press secretary of the Ukrainian prime minister Sergei Nagoryansky informed RIA Novosti Wednesday.

According to him, this relates to a 20-percent special duty introduced by the Ukrainian government on March 29, 2002 as a preventive measure with regard to Russian goods in case Russia introduces a special duty on Ukrainian import of pipes made of ferrous metals.

The cancellation of the 20-percent special duty by Ukraine resulted from the recent talks between heads of government of Ukraine and Russia Anatoly Kinakh and Mikhail Kasyanov, who agreed to lift excessive fiscal barriers in mutual trade turnover, Nagoryansky said.
