Chisinau hosts session of heads of CIS security services

The 13th session of Heads of CIS security services closed on Friday in the capital of Moldavia, Chisinau. Only the Turkmen delegation did not participate in the session.

Director of the Moldavian Information and Security Service Ion Ursu told RIA Novosti that issues concerning the implementation of the signed protocols on cooperation against international terrorism and organized crime in the CIS were discussed during the session. New proposals have been elaborated as well.

Mr. Ursu stressed that secret services interaction systems were coordinated in order to expose and prevent large-scale smuggling and activity of international criminal groups that pose a threat to economic security in the CIS.

According to Mr. Ursu, the participants in the session elaborated a number of recommendations for establishing specialized scientific and technical centers for detecting drugs and psychotropic substances. Besides, an agreement was reached according to which mass media would cover activities of security bodies and secret services against international terrorism and extremism.

Bilateral meetings between the delegations were conducted during the session. The next session of Heads of the CIS security services will take place in Armenia.
