An analysis of fulfilment of peacekeeping tasks by the Russian Military Contingent /RVK/ in Kosovo shows that even with a halved number servicemen from Russia fulfil in full all the tasks imposed on them, Major-General Nikolai Kriventsov, RVK commander, said in a RIA Novosti interview.
He noted that from the time the number of Russian peacekeepers in Kosovo was reduced in the middle of the summer to 650 men, the volume of peacekeeping tasks fulfilled by them was cut very insignificantly.
As estimated by the RIA Novosti source, the process of stabilisation of the situation in Kosovo continues. And although the situation "cannot yet be described as normal, the main thing is that there is no confrontation between the sides, and in general a calm atmosphere prevails," Kriventsov emphasised.
Words of praise for the RVK's activities were also expressed by Marcel Valentin, commander of the international peacekeeping force in Kosovo /KFOR/, who the other day visited the location of the 13th Russian tactical group.
