Moscow points to intensification of Russia-China cooperation in peace-keeping affairs

Moscow has pointed to "significant intensification" of the Russia-China cooperation in peace-keeping affairs, said the Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Alexander Yakovenko.

"The two countries' common interests have allowed us to coordinate efficiently our foreign political actions in issues of strategic stability, combating terrorism, settling regional problems," the diplomat pointed out.

"It is quite obvious that this cooperation is already bringing significant positive results not only in terms of Moscow and Beijing's interests, but also in the context of strengthening international peace and security," Yakovenko said.

The development of long-term relationship with China on strategic partnership cooperation is one of Russia's key issues among its foreign political priorities, he recalled. "This course is fully in line with our country's national interests and is not susceptible to market changes," the diplomat stressed.

The Treaty of Friendship, Neighbourliness and Cooperation between Russia and China, signed last year, is a solid guarantee of stable relationship in the 21st century. Moscow believes that the recent years have witnessed significant progress in the development of Russian-Chinese trade and economic relations. Commodity circulation, which this year will exceed 11 billion dollars, has been increasing dynamically for the third consecutive year.

"These positive changes, reflected in the results of the 7th regular meeting between the Russian and Chinese Prime Ministers in August, testify to the fact that Russian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation has come to a new level of dynamic expansion and intensification," Yakovenko pointed out.

October 1st will mark the 53rd anniversary of the foundation of the Chinese People's Republic.
