Russian anti-trust ministry to sign cooperation agreement with Mexico's related agency

As addressing a press conference at the Novosti news agency Wednesday, Ilya Yuzhanov, Russia's federal Minister of the Anti-Trust Policy and the Support for the Entrepreneurship, did not rule out that the upcoming visit to Mexico by President Vladimir Putin would bring forth a cooperation agreement between his ministry and the Mexican analogue.

The Russian president is expected to take part in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, due in Mexico on October 26th-27th.

Russian Ministry officials handed over the draft cooperation agreement to their Mexican colleagues at the first annual conference of the International Competition Network, that took place in Naples, Italy the other day, said Mr Yuzhanov.

The conferees, heads and spokesmen of competing agencies of 75 countries, came to an agreement on the start and development of relations between the Russian Anti-Trust Ministry and related foreign structures, on information exchange, on interaction in dealing with violations of the anti-trust legislation, and on issues concerning international-scale mergers.

The US Federal Trade Commission and a relative department of the US Justice Ministry expressed readiness for cooperation with the Russian ministry, according to Mr Yuzhanov. Apart from that, Russian officials met their Italian and Slovenian colleagues to discuss implementation of the available bilateral agreements.

Among other things, the Naples conference discussed arrangements for further International Competition Network conferences, particularly the one to take place in St.Petersburg in 2007, said Mr Yuzhanov.
