Delegation of representatives of US energy companies to visit Russia

A delegation of US energy companies will visit Russia next year, said US Commerce Secretary Donald Evans in Houston (the state of Texas) during the first Russian-US energy summit. He pointed out in this connection that the economic growth and stability in the world depended on the reliability and accessibility of energy sources. He stressed that the United States and Russia attached great importance to studying the new potential for the two countries' private sector and to taking the necessary measures for ensuring a long-term economic safety for the USA, Russia and for the world economy as a whole.

According to Evans, the delegation to visit Russia will be engaged only in the development of new business partner relations between the US and Russian energy companies.

Evans also recalled that the USA and Russia plan to create a working group on power engineering, whose activity will be very intense.

Assessing the results of the summit, the US Commerce Secretary expressed opinion that it laid a good foundation for bilateral cooperation in power engineering. He added that the summit inspired optimism with respect to strategic partnership between the two countries.
