Russia and Poland expel each others' diplomats

A diplomatic scandal is brewing between Moscow and Warsaw. Both Russia and Poland expelled each others' diplomats for one and the same reason: "for activities incompatible with their status." Thus, Moscow responded to a similar move on the part of Poland that, on the same basis, had expelled several Russian diplomats from Poland.

The number of expelled diplomats has not been specified for any of the parties.

Spokespeople for the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed the information. "Unfortunately, the Polish authorities have indeed taken such an unfriendly and unreasonable step," officials with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation said. "In this regard, the Russian side has taken adequate measures, and several Polish diplomats have already left the territory of our country for activities incompatible with their status," a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
