Deputy foreign ministers of Russia and Canada discuss issues of combating international terrorism in Moscow

The meeting held in Moscow Tuesday between deputy foreign minister of Russia Anatoly Safonov and deputy minister of foreign affairs and international trade of Canada Jim Wright focused on issues of combating international terrorism.

The information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Mr Wright arrived in Moscow to take part in Russian-Canadian consultations on strategic stability and implementation of the initiative on Global Partnership in preventing proliferation of mass destruction weapons and materials.

The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that the sides exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues of counteracting to new global challenges, which confirmed that the stances of the two countries on key problems of international security are close or coincide.

Deputy heads of foreign policy departments of Russia and Canada spoke in favour of building up coordination in combating international terrorism both in a multilateral format and on bilateral basis, the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
