IMF imposes new paid reforms on Ukraine

The International Monetary Fund will provide financial assistance to Ukraine only in December.  Details of the procedure were specified during the talks between the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the IMF delegation.

Before wiring the tranche, the delegation had to check the quality of reforms in Ukraine, primarily a judicial reform.

In addition, members of the IMF delegation tried to look into the details of the funding of the  Ukrainian judicial system, which remains under conditions of financial stress.

Kiev has received financial assistance from the IMF before: $ 3.2 billion - in May, the second tranche of  $ 1.4 billion was transmitted in the beginning of September. Overall, the IMF approved the loan of $ 17 billion for Ukraine to stabilize the budget against the backdrop of  political and economic tensions.

Spokespeople for the Fund had previously stated that the Ukrainian authorities may require additional external financing in the amount of $19 billion in case of adverse scenario and the continuation of fighting in the east of the country in 2015.
