British Ambassador: Russia, Great Britain Have Never Been as Close as Now

Today, speaking at a press conference, British Ambassador to Russia, Sir Roderic Lyne said the two countries had never been as close as now. He reminded that British Prime Minister, Tony Blair had met with President Putin at least 10 times over the past 3 years. The Ambassador believes this has no precedent. According to him, fundamental changes have occurred in relations between Russia and Great Britain and continued by saying, 'As concerns all the most important issues, we are on the same side and we are partners'.

Mr. Lyne added that his country would like to see Russia in the World Trade Organisation as soon as possible because it would increase the competitiveness of Russia's companies . 'Competition', he said, 'is great. It stimulates the growth of economy'.
