Migration Minister of Sweden arrives in Moscow

Migration Minister of Sweden Jan Karlsson, who arrives on an one-day working visit in Moscow on Monday, is going to discuss with the Russian foreign ministry, measures of combating "criminal groups who abuse the Swedish immigration system." This is said in the statement of the Swedish embassy in Russia which RIA Novosti received.

According to the embassy's information, Jan Karlsson intends to meet first deputy foreign minister of Russia Valery Loshchinin, interior minister Boris Gryzlov and head of the federal migration service of the interior ministry Andrei Chernenko.

The Swedish authorities are worried about the fact that non-grounded requests for receiving asylum have become more frequent, and about the activity of the doubtful travel bureaus which sell the so-called emigration package.

Sweden plans to further develop cooperation with the Russian authorities in identifying the suspected persons, their citizenship, true names and the procedure of their return home.

According to data provided by the immigration service of Sweden, over the first nine months of this year the number of requests for receiving the residence permit and asylum to citizens of Russia and the former USSR grew three-fold compared to the same period of last year and reached 4,875.
