The head of the First Directorate of the Office of Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Almas Mukhamedjanov, said that the country would introduce a new article in the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan about responsibility for human cloning.

It is expected that a criminal punishment for human cloning will make up five years of imprisonment. If an act of cloning is conducted by a group of individuals, the maximum term of imprisonment will increase to 12 years. At the moment, the proposal is considered by experts involved in the development of the new Penal Code.

The new Penal Code of Kazakhstan will come into effect in the second half of 2014.
