USA won't please Europe with public explanations of bugs in embassies

U.S. authorities have formally agreed to comment the information about tapped phones in offices of European officials. However, those will not be public comments, plus the methods used by American secret services do not differ much from those used by secret services of other countries, US officials said.

Another portion of information possessed by fugitive CIA officer Edward Snowden was released during the weekend. Snowden has previously exposed the data on the espionage on American and foreign citizens, as well as about the USA's hacker attacks against China. Snowden gave the new information to Germany's Der Spiegel. According to the documents, Americans placed numerous bugs in many offices in Belgium and other countries of the European Union.

The head of the European Commission, Martin Schulz, demanded the U.S. government should explain the information.

Meanwhile, The Gurdian, that was one of the first papers to have published the information received from Snowden, clarified the scale of espionage of the US National Security Agency: at least 38 embassies of France, Greece, Turkey, Japan and other countries in New York and Washington.
