Obama boasts of 'homosexual triumph of democracy' in Senegal

Barack Obama arrived on Wednesday in Senegal as part of his week-long visit to Africa. The locals greeted him warmly enough, USA Today said.

"I'm not sure it will happen, but if I see President Obama waves to me as he passing me by, I will feel pride and joy for the fact that he came to my country," - taxi driver Mamadou Ndiaye, one of the residents of Senegal's capital of Dakar said.

On Thursday, a press conference was held at the presidential palace, where Obama and the President of Senegal, Macky Sall, discussed a number of issues. Obama, in particular, said that the adoption of the law facilitating the life of gay and lesbian individuals in the United States was a triumph of democracy. Sall said in response that Senegal was not ready to stop positioning homosexuality as a crime yet.

After Senegal, Obama is visiting South Africa and Tanzania.
