Silvio Berlusconi sentenced to seven years

A court in Milan sentenced former prime minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi to seven years in prison for his affair with a minor female.

According to investigators, the politician had sexual ties with a Moroccan-born dancer Karima el-Mahroug, better known as Ruby. Everyone makes mistakes, but the girl was not eighteen at the time, which is a serious crime.

Berlusconi himself does not plead guilty, but only says that he wanted to help the girl. When she was arrested for theft, the prime minister called the police station and asked to release her. That was the time when everyone started  wondering why such a plain girl was staying under the patronage of the prime minister of Italy. Reporters quickly learned a lot about the dancer's life, and it became clear for them why Berlusconi was showing signs of attention to her. The defendant said that he considered her a granddaughter of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, that's why he was trying to help her.

Berlusconi's rivals added more fuel to the fire. Then came the story of frivolous parties in the house of the billionaire.

Berlusconi said that it was all made up by his enemies. He had a platonic relationship with the dancer, he said. The court did not take the politician's words into account and voiced a severe sentence. It was also stressed out that  Berlusconi will be barred from taking public positions.
